This is pretty much what the meetings look like.

All Gamians are invited to attend the occasional Gamers Council. They are usually small, but still useful.

Next meetingEdit

To be decided.

How to join the meetingEdit

IRC: irc.freenode.net #swgames

For a list of clients, see Star Wars Games:IRC. Wikia provides web access to our IRC channel at irc.wikia.com.

(Helpful hint: You only get 16 characters in your IRC nickname.)

AgendaEdit

The agenda is not up to date as of the last meeting on the 19th of January 2008, many topics should not be on the agenda now however some are still new/relevant.

  • A proposal on a completely new look for the site, something closer to Darthipedia, with a spacey background, sleaker look, new logo, and more. SG1
    • If I can, what about something like this? I'm not promising I can, but after taking a look at several Wikia hosted wikis (unlike the Battlestar Wiki), I really don't see why not. Yes, it will probably be very difficult, being as I know s*** about HTML, but I think we can do it. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • We need more ideas on how to update the site. We need to become much more of a mature site like Wookieepedia, but without all the policies. SG1
    • Abbrieviated links, like KOTOR under appearances instead of the whole name. HunterjStar Wars Battlefront- Renegade Squadron Words Hunterj's Palace
    • Italic game titles, even in mid paragraph, not just in sources and appearances. HunterjStar Wars Battlefront- Renegade Squadron Words Hunterj's Palace
    • Page Titles - We need to decide weather we are going to use a troopers nickname (e.g. Cody) or there number or Letter etc (e.g. CC-2224). Either way we can have redirects for the number or the nickname. HunterjStar Wars Battlefront- Renegade Squadron Words Hunterj's Palace
  • **sigh** Revisting the bot idea again. I have a bot on Darthipedia that currently only works half-assed. SG1
  • Revisiting the trading cards. It's been a while, and we still only have a few articles on them. I'm going to try to get working on more, but I'll probably only be good for Young Jedi trading cards, as they were basically the only cards I've ever collected. (I'm somewhat new to Star Wars, believe it or not. I've only been a fan for about three years, how many trading cards do you expect me to have? :D)SG1
  • Sub-Wikis. We need to expand this more. I believe these could be pretty popular if we figure them out. It could also help for future splinter-wikis. I'd like to propose a nomination process for the Sub-Wikis, and consider issues such as if the nomination is successful, do we make the nominator an administrator? SG1
  • I think we need to make Community Portal look a little better and make it more useful. User:Cactuar83
  • SWRPG - A lot of the articles are a mess and some are on specific mainly uneditable topics like a starfighter squadron owned by <insert star wars role playing game's user name here>. SWC:GS:Template:YT-1300pstock:Bathroom is an example. HunterjStar Wars Battlefront- Renegade Squadron Words Hunterj's Palace
  • Poor wierd articles: Don't know what these articles are about but SWC:Pondo is an example, maybe more RPG but still needs mentioning. HunterjStar Wars Battlefront- Renegade Squadron Words Hunterj's Palace 20:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
  • SWGames-The Game needs a major overhaul! I think it would be another cool feature if it was active. User:Cactuar83
    • On that note we need major amounts of people who can make decent pictures for this, as well as people who arn't so busy with so manny other things, like all those who are currently "working" on it to work on pieces of it. Mabey have one user be given pecific task to create specific things, give all the knowledge of what is needed and then all they do is reaserch those parts and making them. Like have one person tasked with finding weapons used in starwars and then they give the stats necesary as well as make pictures. Fell
  • The AFAC. --Ryluk Shouja(The Mukhabarat|Contribs|Other) 07:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Uploading images from movies and adding them to the character pages. As Hunterj has pointed out, some characters you might not be able to get a clear image for. But this is a f******* games wiki, not a movie wiki. We've had debates over this in the past, most notably when Quinny coppied Twi'lek over from Wookieepedia, which contained sources beyond video games. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • Hammering out some policies. Rules are what make wikis stable. Without them, everything would crumble. While I don't want us to have too strict rules like Wookieepedia has had on occasions, I believe we should at least have more foundation. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
    • Categorization policy. We need one. --Ryluk Shouja(The Mukhabarat|Contribs|Other) 09:46, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
    • I'll second Ryluk and we also neeed a blocking policy. HunterjUraiFenHunterj's Palace 17:55, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
    • User page image policy. We need to decide how many images one can upload soley for their user page. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
    • Signature policy. We're having several users/admins using {{User:Dude/sig}} instead of typing ~~~~. It generates a major problem; dating. Signatures, because of this, aren't dated. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • On a minor note, we're gonna need some help with Game Wars if we want this to come out anytime soon. While Jakerl and I were originally planning to use myself for the voices, we soon found out that I have a horrible voice/microphone. So, if anyone here is willing to provide at least a few voices, it would be much appreciated. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • The HoloNet Report needs some work. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • Promotion of the site: I contacted GamesRadar a while ago, asking for advertisement on their site. Unfortunately, I found they're a bit pricey so that is out of the question. I was thinking something other than advertisement and more official friendship. I believe that once we hit the 2,000 articles mark, we should be good to go on getting official friends. And if everyone else agrees, I believe we should contact TheForce.net and establish an "alliance", or so to speak, with them. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
    • I've talked with SG1 and we should think about going for featured wikia status, yes we are allowed, as we are a small, improving wikia with need for more users, could help promotional problems. (I will start using simple sigs as of next agenda, I missed the meeeting and didn't find out the outcome, I then copied SG1, but he to missed the meeting) HunterjHunterjHunterj's Palace 20:40, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Government Info-Box: probably taken from wookieepedia and has a lot of information that is unecassary from a gamer's perspective. HunterjJet trooperHunterj's Palace 14:19, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  • A proposal on a wiki merge. No, not us merging with another wiki. The SWG Wikia merging into us. However, we will need to build up quite a few more articles if we want to do this. This is mainly due to the fact that they currently have several thousand more articles than us. However, I believe this would benefit both communities greatly, once the pain-staking process of taking each article and moving them to us is over with. And, of course, we would have to get them to agree with it (which would require a mass-cleanup of the entire site). supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • And on that note.... http://swg.wikia.com/wiki/SWG_Wiki_banners supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • Going back to just using simple sigs Fell for this agenda page especially when subst is used. Also it will help with pasting agenda in IRC Fell
  • Something brand new, no other wiki has done before: A bulletin board for users to post announcements. Announcements can range from a proposal on a certain page, to one's birthday. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • KOTOR lists, maybe each item, weapon and equipment should have an individual page. HunterjHunterjHunterj's Palace 19:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • New Quote of the Week requirements. Possibly even new Main Page requirements for feaures like the ID/In the news/Did you know. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • Strategy articles. We need to figure out how to handle these. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina
  • The MySpacification of SWGames. I, personally, am against this, but there is a special thing Wikia is introducting as an option feature for your wiki. So far, it hasn't been recieved well, but if wanted, we can make userpages look more like profiles. An example: Muppets101's userpage on the Puppet Wikia. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina 14:34, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
  • With my "charm" (</sarcasm>), I might be able to get the SWGalaxies Wikia people interested in this site enough for a merge before we reach 5,000 articles. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina 10:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
    • I REALLY suport this, but htere are a few things SG1 and me need to raise first. HunterjHunterjHunterj's Palace 18:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  • THis is sort of SG1's request, but should the trading cards stay here? They could go to the SWMerchandise wikia. HunterjJet trooperHunterj's Palace 18:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  • policies, we have them now (I think) we need to list them or categorize them better. 18:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
  • What to do with this. Yes, that's the brand new SWDiplomacy Wiki (not hosted by Wikia) run by Brent Powell, and yes, that's right, Sterling, the two founders of SWGames. Not only have they copied articles/namespaces/images/templates/the goddamn main page, but they also blame us for not putting a marker on them. Said on this page by Sterling himself:
I dont mind people ripping up, but I do mind them ripping them and claiming as their own work and not giving me credit.

When I make a template, I spend time to perfect it, normally 30mins to an hour in addittion to the rough draft coding, it kinda pisses me off when I recieve no credit for it.

And yes, I took templates from SWgames wikia, which was ours to begin with, and if no one wanted to put a marker on theirs thats their fault, as it was in the past for me, however this legally means that someone can not copy it and port it to another wiki without crediting me as the original creator. Otherwise you can port it all you want.

All that template says is that in order to use my templates that you must be willing to accredit to me... I believe thats a fair request to ask...

Obviously he knows crap about wikis. Wikia wikis are licensed under GFDL which allows any other site to copy our content, as long as everything is sourced back to us. The Diplomacy Wiki fails to do such a thing. Thus, we have to decide how to properly deal with this. Do we ignore it or do we "take action" in this. What I would be willing to do is write a cease and desist letter to both Powell and Sterling. I have nothing against these men. Both of them created the wiki, something I'm very thankful for. But this cannot and will not go unnoticed. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina 20:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

    • we need to sort this before they take our (they made them, meybe.) articles on their wiki, thismight be a good thing but we need to agree beforehand, if we can. And their mainpage, they might want to change their official frineds as they don't have any yet. Hunterj

Jet trooperHunterj's Palace 16:26, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

  • We might want to consider this, SG1 agrees with my idea quite strongly, I'm not to sure yet but I came up with it! :)

This wikia is for video games and official RPG stuff ONLY.

SWRolePlay takes info on unofficial RPGs as well as the actual games

SWMerchandise takes the Trading cards (if they don't want them we remove them, they'll create a list at some point)

SWminis (the SW Miniatures site) takes the Star Wars Miniatures stuff.

This would solve a lot of problems and is something we should consider, we have many good articles, and may have SWGalaxies merge wit hus soon, this could really help our proposal for the merge and Featured wiki (it shows we're sharing our content :) ) If you disagree with this come to the meeting, SG1 may pursuade you! :) Hunterj Jet trooperHunterj's Palace 20:41, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

    • I forgot t0 mention SWC (Star Wars Clans), do we want them? If not hwere should they go? Beofre we get rid of them remember that the Wookieepedia article on us says we are original in the sense that we have sub wikis, the only remaining one now is SWC but we could turn official RPG stuff into a sub wiki. Hunterj

  • might sound stupid but we need to sort out what is an expansion article and what is a stub, I know but I've seen to many articles with both templatesw, I don't think that's quite right, surely it is a stub if it's got very little content (one or two sentances) and has room for more, and an expansion is a paragraph or two long, but has room for lots more. Hunterj

  • 501st Journal is that page really needed like that, sureley we should copy the entries to the relevant pages and make hte page more of a list with some info instead of a list of the journal which is all copyrighted etc. If not then maybe we need to display the Note differently. HunterjJet trooperHunterj's Palace | What I've Proofread 13:42, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Opening up a consensus track like on Wookieepedia. A consensus track, or CT for short, is a forum where votes are held. If we opened up one of these, we wouldn't have to keep piling ideas into the Gamers Council agenda all the time. A good chunk of our votes could be held off the IRC, which would be very useful in my opinion. I believe we would also become much more productive this way. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina 19:01, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
  • One vote per person for the ID and other related pages. supergeeky1 BobaFett The Cantina 19:01, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
