Renegade Squadron Battlefronts: Space
From SWGames, the Star Wars Games Wiki, currently editing over 2,049 articles
In Star Wars, due to highly advanced space travel, there is much extra-planetary conflict. In Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron there are seven instant action space battles.
The Star Wars: Battlefront air combat involves you manually finding targets and manually landing. Star Wars: Battlefront II improved this, adding a lock-on and auto-target feature, but the player still has to land the fighter manually. In Renegade Squadron there is an automatic landing feature and not only an auto-lock, but an auto-pilot, which automatically aims at the target - all the player has to do is fire. It is still possible to aim and land manually, however.

[edit] Keeping Alive
Keeping Alive in space can be hard due to the large amount of units in the battle. Staying away from auto-turrets (Unless you are trying to destroy them) and rolling occasionally can help stop someone from locking on to you. Varying your speed also helps.
[edit] Winning
There are two ways to win:
- Destroy all of the enemy’s systems in any order (Shields first): Shields, Life Support, Engines, Bridge, Communication Array, Sensor Array.
- Reducing your opponent’s reinforcement count to zero. This is done by destroying enemy units.
[edit] Classes
In space vehicles have different strengths and weakness, depending on what class they are.
[edit] Fighter/Scout
Scout class units are very fast and have fast firing weapons, but they have very weak armor. Newer players often struggle with this class due to their weak armor. They are perfect dogfighters, designed for fighter-to-fighter combat.
- Galactic Empire: TIE Interceptor
- Rebel Alliance: A-Wing
- Galactic Republic: Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor
- CIS: Tri-Fighter
[edit] Medium
The Medium-class fighters are good at destroying enemy systems with their secondary weapon, and are good at destroying enemy fighters using their primary weapon. They are not as good at either of these roles in comparison to the specialised types. They have reasonable speed.
- Galactic Empire: TIE Fighter
- Rebel Alliance: T-65 X-Wing
- Galactic Republic: ARC-170
- CIS: Droid Starfighter
[edit] Bombers
These crafts are slow in comparison to other fighters, but they have a lot of armor and heavy weaponry. They are very effective against ship-based weapons and critical systems.
- Galactic Empire: TIE Bomber
- Rebel Alliance: Y-Wing
- Galactic Republic: V-Wing
- CIS: CIS Strike Bomber
[edit] Transport
These vehicles are extremely slow, and have very slow firing weapons. They are only good at destroying stationary targets. They are very easy targets due to their speed, the only thing that keeps them alive is their heavy armor. When the vehicle lands it can be used as a spawn point for friendly troops.
- Galactic Empire: Imperial Landing Shuttle
- Rebel Alliance: LAAT/i
- Galactic Republic: LAAT/i
- CIS: Droid Gunship
[edit] Special
Only the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire have this class. The Special-class vehicles are similar to he medium class, however they are better at each role. They make very suitable bombers and are also fast and have good armor, making them very capable of dogfighting.
- Galactic Empire: TIE Defender
- Rebel Alliance: B-Wing
[edit] Heroes
Heroes play a big part in space combat. They are very effective in destroying enemy systems but the only way for them to gain health is to kill enemy units, which they are also good at. You can only become a hero when you are in space and if you land and your special ship is destroyed, you are stuck on ground as you cannot enter other vehicles.
- Galactic Empire: Boba Fett in the Slave I and Darth Vader in his TIE Advanced x1
- Rebel Alliance: Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon
- Galactic Republic: Obi-Wan Kenobi in his Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor
- CIS: Jango Fett in the Slave I
[edit] Asteroid Bases
Special-Class fighters usually spawn here. In the Clone Wars timeline extra fighters of different classes spawn here. There are usually two manual turrets to control.
[edit] Instant Action Space Maps
In every space map there is the Scout, Medium and Bomber class.
[edit] Alderaan
Galactic Civil War only. Special class fighters spawn in the normal hangar. One Frigate per Faction. There are lots of small rock fragments cluttering the space in between the ships.
[edit] Heroes
- Galactic Empire: Boba Fett
- Rebel Alliance: Han Solo
[edit] Coruscant
Clone Wars only. There is an Asteroid Base in the middle. No frigates. Each Faction has a Gunship.
[edit] Heroes
- Galactic Republic: Obi-Wan Kenobi
- CIS: Jango Fett
[edit] Hoth
Galactic Civil War only. Gunships for each faction. Rebels have three small frigates, Empire has two normal frigates.
[edit] Heroes
- Galactic Empire: Darth Vader
- Rebel Alliance: Han Solo
[edit] Kashyyyk
Both eras. Gunships for each faction. CIS and Republic get one frigate each. The Rebels and Empire have an asteroid base to fight for. In Galactic Civil War there are bits of rock everywhere.

[edit] Game Modes
- Assault (Similar to Conquest)
Explained throughout the articles above.
Fast ships are best for 1-Flag CTF. The objective is to get the neutral flag to the area above the enemy bridge.
