Jawas were short creatures, that lived in the Dune Sea of Tatooine. They are benign creatures that would scavenge droids, droid parts, ships, and engine parts, which they sell for a living. They wore brown, hooded cloaks, and the only part of their features that could be seen was their glowing yellow eyes.

Several groups of Jawas were reluctantly taken by Rodian scrap hunters to Raxus Prime. Some Jawas were killed by Starkiller when he hunted for Kazdan Paratus.

In Star Wars: Battlefront Jawas can be seen on Tatooine: Mos Eisley repairing Turrets. They count as a friendly unit to both sides, but they do not effect the amount of reinforcements or AI units.

In Star Wars: Battlefront II Jawas have the same purpose as in the first Battlefront game. They are now playable in Hunt mode in which they use Ionization Blasters (function the same as ARC Casters) to fight the Tusken Raiders.

[edit] Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Jawas confront the player on Raxus Prime. They are armed with Fusion Cutters which do very little damage, and grenades. They often back away from the player and killed with a short burst of Force lightning or a simple slash with the Lightsaber.
