Built in order to defend Imperial worlds from Rebel incursion and often to host the garrisons and bureaucracies of occupied worlds, Imperial space stations came in a variety of shapes and sizes throughout the reign of the Empire. Each station, depending upon its size and location, played host to varying numbers of garrisoned troops and warships, and could call upon additional resources to combat significant attacks. Many of these stations were reinforced by groundside hypervelocity guns.

Cardan-class[]

Imperial Station Lvl1

These stations were primarily utilized during the early years of the Empire.

Level 1[]

These stations (seen at right) were equipped with light garrisons of TIE fighters and bombers, these stations were only capable of resisting light to moderate attacks without external assistance. They were often stationed over worlds of little import to the Empire, and on the fringes of its controlled space.

Level 2[]

These stations were aided by a garrison of Tartan-class patrol cruisers in addition to their fighter and bomber squadrons, as well as boasting additional firepower.

Level 3[]

A mid-tier space station, this class was commonly seen across the Empire. The firepower of the station was further increased from its prior variant, though it was afforded no new ships to call upon. These stations could, if needed, repair vessels up to the size of a Victory-class Star Destroyer.

Level 4[]

Stations of considerable power, the Cardan IV was often a symbol of Imperial power in a given region. As a reflection of this import, they were granted a garrison of antiquated but powerful Acclamator II-class frigates to call upon if Rebel forces attacked, though they would need to do so in significant numbers to overcome the considerable batteries of turbolasers and other weaponry that this tier bristles with.

Level 5[]

Serving as a seemingly immovable and indestructible bastion of Imperial might, these stations were the apex of defensive spaceborne fortifications. Their considerable firepower and squadrons of starfighters were supplemented by a range of additional ships, up to and including the Victory-class Star Destroyer. Nothing less than a full Rebel fleet could stand a chance against the innumerable weapons and garrisoned vessels of these monolithic stations.
