Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron is a action/stratedy video game that was released in the Fall of 2009. It was for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable platforms. It was announced on May 26, 2009.

Gameplay[]

The game allows the player to go straight from the ground to space, much like what is expected in Star Wars: Battlefront III.[1] Much like the other games in the series you can, fight on the ground as infantry or in vehicles, in space, and in capital starships, however in this game, you can go from fighting on the ground to flying straight into space, and into a capital starship. It was made to be able to be replayed without losing its enjoyment as quickly as most video games do. Its gameplay has been slightly expanded from the previous games in the series.

PSP version[]

The PSP version will have character customization. The customization is much like the customization in Renegade Squadron. You can choose your weapons that you carry into battle, species, appearance, physical strengths. but unlike renegade squadron, in addition to 3 customizable classes, there are also preset classes you can chose (heavy weaponry, sniper, ect). The PSP version also allows you to battle through 12 campaign levels.

Nintendo DS version[]

ES DS

The Nintendo DS version of Elite Squadron.

The Nintendo DS version will have numerous of unique preset classes rather than a customization feature that carry their own specialized abilities and weapons. The Nintendo DS version will also allow you to battle through 11 campaign levels.

Playable Demo[]

A playable demo was released for the Playstation Portable via the PSN. It alwows the player to experience a single conquest battle on Tatooine. Strangely, the customization is limited compared to that of Renegade Squadron. The demo has most items locked.

Game modes[]

Heroes v Villains (9)

IG-88 and Chewbacca in Heroes and Villains mode.

Capture the flag mode will be a game mode in Elite Squadron on the PSP and possibly on the DS, which suggests that many of the other game modes from Renegade Squadron will also return.[2] A special Heroes and Villains mode will be in the game which will be similar to Hero Assault from Battlefront II. It will feature characters from Renegade Squadron as well as from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.[1]

Multiplayer[]

The PSP version of the game will feature 16 player online matches and the Nintendo DS will have up to four player battles.[3]

Plot[]

The player assumes the role of X2, a Force-sensitive clone trooper.

The storyline is about X1 and his brother, X2, who were both created using the DNA of a Jedi Master. They were given the order to hunt down and kill the Jedi after Order 66 was issued by Palpatine. X2 chose to end his blood-stained life and he joined the Alliance. X1, however, did not turn from his evil ways and went on to live a more sinister way of life.
