Clone trooper

Clone Troopers were genetically engineered clones of Jango Fett created by the Kaminoans on Kamino. They were trained and bred for war. They were the main infantry of the Grand Army of the Republic and later became a number of Stormtroopers.

[edit] Armor Phases and other types

There were three phases of Clone troopers according to the type of armor they used. Phase I armor was the weakest and most uncomfortable while Phase II armor was the strongest and most comfortable.

Phase I troopers used DC-15 blaster rifles in combat, which were long and difficult to aim. The later Phase II troopers used DC-15S blaster rifles that were much shorter and easier to use, as well as more accurate.

As well as the phases their were other types of clone trooper armor, including katarn armor used by clone commandos and ARC Trooper armor which was a slightly enlarged version of the Phase I and Phase II armor. ARC Trooper armor also went by the same rank standards as well as sam design for the Phase I time period but was more advanced as well as having more customized kit along with it. The main noticable difference is the pauldrons and kamas the ARCs used.

By the time Phase II armor came out Clone Troopers were at this time customizing their own armor by which group they were is not by what rank. An example is the 501st who all wore blue colored armor. The function of the seperate ranks were the same as Phase I.

Clone troopers appear in many Star Wars games that take place during the time of the Clone Wars. They are the predecessors to Stormtroopers and are generally as strong as the later troopers.

The main unit of the Republic, the Clone Trooper was equipped with the basic weapons for taking out enemy units, the Blaster Rifle was fully automatic and was superior to the slower firing Wrist Blaster (used by the Super Battle Droid) however each individual shot does less damage and is less accurate.

The Blaster Pistol is inferior to the rifle, but is good when you do not have time to reload or when you are out of ammo. It is also very precise.

The Thermal Detonators that the clone troopers carry are great for throwing down stairs or around corners, or even at enemy tanks. Clone Troopers are your all-purpose infantry, and the Republic team will probably be mostly comprised of these guys. (Equivalent to- Super Battle Droid, Rebel Soldier, Stormtrooper)
