C-3PO, or Threepio, as it was commonly called, was a gold-plated protocol droid that belonged to Princess Leia. It was built by Anakin Skywalker. It had masculine programming and can be described as somewhat prissy, although Threepio did not think so. It was fluent in over six-million forms of communication, and would generally broadcast that every chance it got.

C-3PO was sort of a "know-it-all" type of droid and did not like being in the middle of the action, he would also often tell people the odds, like for instance:

C-3PO: But sir, the chances of successfully navigating an asteroid field are approximately 3,720 to 1. or
C-3PO: R2 reads that there chances of survival are 720 to 1.
