The All Terrain Scout Transport , often abbrieviated to AT-ST, is a light scout walker used by the Galactic Empire.
Star Wars: Battlefront IIEdit
In this game, AT-ST is a single-pilot walker used by the Empire on Endor, Felucia and Hoth maps. They have less armour then then rebel Alliance AAC-1, and are slower, though much easier to aim and control. Like all other vehicles, they have an anti-infantry laser weapon with cooldown and a timed-interval AOE grenade launcher, controlled by the left and right-mouse buttons respectively. They can also be healed by an Imperial Engineer and sliced into by the Rebel Smuggler.
Its Clone-era counterpart, AT-RT, is faster, more maneouvrable and has higher rate of fire for both weapons, but it does much less damage to vehicles, has less armour and completely open pilot seat, making it really easy to kill the driver. In short, the AT-RT are deadly in the hands of a player but are laughably easy AI opponents, while AT-STs are a good support vehicle that is best left in the hands of AI.
Star Wars: Empire at War/Forces of CorruptionEdit
In this game, AT-STs are a Tier 1 Imperial vehicle that can be constructed at the Light Factory for 750 credits per a squadron of 4. They have moderate speed, light armour and low damage. They also have "Barrage" special ability: when it is activated they will pepper a 3m target circle with blaster fire for 10 seconds. This ability is most useful against large structures, as then all of their shots will do damage rather then missing.
Overall, they are a weak, highly underpowered unit, to the point where a Rebel Soldier squad will eventually defeat lone AT-STs and can be barely defeated by two or more. While they can also defeat Anti-Infantry Turrets, Swamp Speeders and the Defilers in Forces of Corruption, any other enemy will beat them without breaking a sweat. In short, it is absolutely pointless to buy them when far superior Scout Troopers and TIE Maulers are available for 650 and 800 credits respectively.
